Lightning talks again! We’ll take turns giving one, aiming for about 5 minutes each.
What is a lightning talk? It’s where you introduce the group to something you’re familiar with and are comfortable talking about. It doesn’t have to be “rationality related”, just something you have a good enough understanding of that you can take questions about from a general audience.
Examples of talks from previous (not necessarily Austin) LW meetups:
– Lie detection
– The Federalist Papers
– Learning a hobby (juggling, unicycling, Dance Dance Revolution, Latin)
– “Leave no trace” practices in parks
– The process and benefits of filing Freedom of Information Act requests
– How to adopt foreign words into Japanese
It doesn’t have to be well-prepared! Think of it more as a chance to casually talk about what you know and field questions about it.
Feel free to announce your talk on the mailing list in advance (though it’s not required).

Update: The meetup has moved, see the email thread at the mailing list update above.
